There was a man from Albania who was a Muslim and he got gloriously saved in Albania. Someone loved him enough to tell him the truth about the gospel and he received Jesus Christ as his Saviour.. He left many behind including his mother, father, brothers, and sisters for He had an opportunity to come to America ... he came by faith. When he came to America, he found the church sleeping. One day, he was at a beach with his seven year old daughter when suddenly his daughter urgently came to him saying, "Daddy, Daddy, there is a woman, she wants help, she's crying for help, she drowning! The man jumped up and immediatley started to run toward where the woman was but he was far in the distance. And as he got closer he saw a lifegaurd in the distance but standing near the water there. The Albanian man stopped because he saw the lifegaurd at the edge of the water. He thought to trust the lifegaurd. He saw the lifegaurd casualy taking off his t-shirt and slowly removing his sunglasses to lay them on a towel. The man from Albania was dismayed and wanted to run in the water but he saw the lifegaurd. And, he could'nt understand why the lifegaurd was not moving quickly but hesitating so much. The lifegaurd walked out into the water to retreive the woman. He reached her and he brought her back and laid her on the beach. And there on the beach she died. Everyone standing round felt so sad and disappointed when they saw the woman.
We are the lifegaurd that God has appointed to this world that is drowning in the sin which brings death. We cannot lack the urgency that the lifegaurd had ... in this story,
In this story, the little girl had the spirit of a lifegaurd because she had the urgency. Her father had the spirit of a lifegaurd because he immediatley got up and ran. The lifegaurd although close at hand, and given the responsibility, was a lifegaurd in name only, but had not the spirit of a lifegaurd.
Days later, the Albanian man was witnessing to a woman about the gospel. The woman replied, "everyone says their religion is the correct one, so who really knows"?. But the Albanian man spoke up and said, "what I am telling you concerning this gospel is not a matter of religion, but a matter of life and death.
St. Paul said to the church of the Ephesians in Ephesians 5:14 "Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."
The light is the Gospel. The Lord will help us shine the light of the gospel, if we will wake up and come out of sleep, we must realize that in Christ we have risen from the dead.
