REVELATION ETERNAL MYSTERIES SIMPLIFIED
THE LAODICEAN HERESY
"As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore, and repent."
We believe from the Gospel of the Lord that we are taught many important things about the good Shepard and his sheep. We also believe that our Lord gives us very specific instruction and abscribes to us the correct conditions for the flock to be tended. It is no coincidence nor is it meaningless that Jesus ascribes the number of sheep per Shepard as one hundred. He means by this that a good Shepard cares for one hundred sheep.
Why? So that the one who goes astray... the Good Shepard will leave the ninety-nine and will go after to retrieve the one that is lost... to bring them back into the fold. Again, the fold is here taught by our Lord to be one hundred in count (not one or two thousand).
What Shepard would ever know that one of his sheep is ever missing upon having a flock so large in number? But, Jesus guides our discernment of the Good Shepard by informing us that the Good Shepard knows his sheep and they know and hear his voice. The Pastor who is a faithful minister of God's word has a resposibility to guide his flock in the will and obedience of Christ. Conversly, Jesus also warns his disciples about the hirling. We will talk about him later.
In the Revelation to the seven churches, Jesus Christ himself, gives counsel to the corresponding Angel over each church. The recording Angel is responsible for the spiritual protection, yes, but also accountable to record the works of that church assigned to him. John sees and hears in vision the word of Christ given to the Angels. And, John writes these things down so that the vision can be sent "unto the churches".
Now, let us focus on the seventh and last church in particular.
The Laodicean heresy is part of our Days & Counting! prophecy page:
REVELATION ETERNAL MYSTRERIES SIMPLIFIED series of teachings.
- "And unto the Angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: These things says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I would you were cold or hot.
- So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth.
- Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and in need of nothing: and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
- I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich: and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and annoint your eyes with eyesalve, that you may see.
- As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold I stand at the door, and knock; if any man hears my voice; and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
- To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches."
- Revelation 3:14-22
Brothers and Sisters in Christ. The rebuke of our Lord here is sharp. All of the other six churches were commended for at least some good works... for patience, for being zealous, etc. But, to the Laodicean "blessed" church, there was not one word of commendation. The church could not be praised or commended for anything because they bore no attribute of value in the eyes of the Lord.
The message starts out "I know your works", which right away, does not sound good. No doubt, the recording Angel of this church had much to complain about concerning their works. They not only were destitute of the true good works, but also had works that where of the flesh. We see that the foundational problem causing misguided works stems from this church being "lukewarm". Lukewarm, means comfortable which riches often make for. Where there is comfort, there is often a lackadaisical compromise, and where there is compromise there is the lack of incentive to do the good works as taught in The Gospel of the Lord.
"Because you say"... here the recording Angel reports to the Lord concerning their conversation of faith. It is not The Gospel of the Lord that makes up their form of conversation, but rather their own doctrines, teachings, asperations, self appraisal, and self status. They think they are right in their own eyes and self sufficient while zealous for all the wrong things. "Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and in need of nothing"
We live in the Laodicean Church time period of the last days where blessing is misconstrued for material gain and excess. Not every Church today is guilty of the Laodicean heresy... but many are! They are the fat, spiritually lazy, comfortable, well-off, lukewarm Church... that boasts about being "blessed".
The Gospel of the Lord teaches us what God's definition is of being blessed.
"Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners. But, his delight will be in the word of the Lord."
"Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."
When salt has lost its savour it is the same as being lukewarm. It is good for nothing. The salt is trodden down under the foot of men. So likewise, is the pomp and show gospel of the prosperity ministers when the world laughs and mocks at them for being hirlings and charlatons. Only, the blind sheep are fooled and indoctrinated... the worldly wolves are not. Also, those of the church who know the truth of The Gospel of the Lord are not fooled either.
True blessing is when we delight in God's word. True blessing is when we proclaim the name of Christ, for his sake. This is the good work we must do. We are blessed when we preach the Gospel that is the power of God unto salvation even when it costs us to do so.
Brethren, let us stop listening to the Laodicean heresy that flows from the lips of prosperity false teachers.
While the "Laodicean salesmen" preach "seed faith", our Lord comanded his disciples saying "freely you have received, freely give". The Laodicean prosperity heresy did not escape the notice of our Lord who holds the Angel over his Church responsible to measure out a severe rebuke and threat against that Church.
For sure, Laodicean Pastors are anything but "hirlings" who care more about money, numbers, and "stuff" than they do for the sheep they keep deceiving. Some television preachers may mean well while they are indoctrinated in the Laodicean heresy. Then there are charlatans who are nothing but hirlings, who are in it for the money, and only motivated by money.
Brothers in Christ, it's time we start reading our Bibles and hear the word of THE GOOD SHEPARD, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Remember, that Jesus taught us that the Good Shepard cares for his sheep while the hirling cares not about the sheep but is in it only for the money.
Show me a man on television who says you can be bessed while he asks you to bless him with a gift and I will show you many a men.
Show me a man on television who has something to give (not sell) and I will show you but merely a few men.
Show me a man on television who preaches as Jesus did that it is the least in God's Kingdom who will be considered the greatest... and that the first will be last... and the last will be first... and I will show you no men whatsoever.
How many men seek their own glory as they make reputatons for themselves when our Lord made himself of no reputation? How many men advertise their own name when our Lord admited that in his own name he came not? While Christ the Son of God had no place to lay his head, Laodicean ministers live in million dollar homes and travel in privatley owned million dollar jets, etc, etc, etc..
Our Lord carried his cross upon his shoulder and complained about lazy Pharisees who could not so much as lift a finger to remove burdens from men. But, Laodicean so called ministers of today grace their fingers with diamonds and live like they "have need of nothing"... then, tell their sheep how much they need while expecting more and more from their sheep.
The Church of Laodicea in the bible and in archeology. The 7th Church confronted by the overseeing messenger Angel in the book of Revelation.
Is this what happens when the judgement of God begins at the house of God?
What the Laodicean Church.. the last days church... is commanded to do.
The message of Jesus Christ to the Angel of the Laodiceans is: "I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire". We can obtain wealth and buy things from the world that make us rich and comfortable. The Laodiceans were in need of nothing, so they had already bought what money can buy out of this world for themselves. There was nothing left to buy. But, here the Lord says "BUY OF ME". Remember that when we buy anything... it costs us something. According to the Lord's rebuke it was time for them to re-route their investments. The Lord wants the Angel of the Laodiceans to buy of him and trade their impure worldly gold of riches for his "GOLD TRIED IN THE FIRE". To be tried, means to be persecuted... for the heavenly gold which is the gospel and to proclaim the name of Jesus at all cost where gold tried in the fire will be their eternal reward of true blessing... "that you may be rich".
"and white raiment, that you may be clothed". The cost goes further. We are also commanded to buy of him white rainment. This represents exchanging their self sufficiency of temporal riches and recall their eternal salvation... the righteousness that comes from God, not self righteousness. It is the pure righteousness we receive when we are saved by grace.
What the Word of God Actually Teaches About Money and Gain
Let's look at scriptures from The Gospel of the Lord and the letters from the Apostles to the Churches.
We must understand the definition of what it is to be "Blessed" from The Gospel of the Lord, rather than from apostate indulgent prosperity teachers. These scriptures we shall proclaim... but you can be sure these will never be preached by prosperity teachers who avoid them like the plague to their own shame.
St. Paul the Apostle
I’m a paragraph. Drag me to add paragraph to your block, write your own text and edit me.
Despite how severe the parable of the rich man and Lazarus is... as told by the Gospel of the Lord... we refrain to tell it since we would overload our message. There is so much elsewhere in God's word that we have more than enough proof-teaching to set us sober minded without also frosting the cake with parables.
Objections from the "Laodicean Brethren"
Objection 1
The Prosperity preachers have scriptural support for what they preach. And, their idea of abundance is not necessarily defined as strictly monetary gain.
Our Answer
Jesus said "every tree is known by its fruit". They merchandise the gospel through books, seminars, videos, call in phone numbers, etc.. They live in multi-million dollar homes. They dress in fine apparel. They build material infrastructures to no end. They welcome masses which to them equivicates to gain and resource. They manage a money dependant "ministry" which is driven by and always has its dependancy upon money (mammon) which in whom they become enslaved and it becomes their master.
If they can't get enough to support their excess... they fund raise, broadcast telethons, and plead for more. They preach seed faith but they don't practice it themselves (they want you to give them money so that you can be blessed... perhaps they should be sending you money instead, so that they can be blessed). Being deceived themselves... they are deceitful in every way imaginable.
Objection 2
If this be true, then why don't these prosperity preachers recognize their error.
Our Answer
Because while they are zealous for their own ministries, they are lukewarm concerning God and his word. They pick and choose only what appeals to them and enjoy their comfort. Obeying the commands of Christ are not important to them. They advance "their own" brand of gospel rather than the pure Gospel of the Lord. The way to clear error is to obey the truth. But, there is much truth in the Gospel of the Lord which they care not to hear much less do.
Objection 3
Christ went to the cross to free us from sickness, poverty, and the strongholds of Satan who is the thief and destroyer. Therefore, it is a discredit to the work of Christ if his people live in poverty and live a destitute life. It makes the Christian life a poor witness to Christ's victory.
Our Answer
We could not have said it any better and wholeheartedly agree. We indeed trust that God will take care of his own. But, what does this have to do with living for money and in excess and for the over abundance of earthly things? God wants us to prosper in every way that is good in his sight. We are blessed so that as imitators of God we can in turn bless others. We must invest in heavenly and spiritual things.
Meanwhile, we must also "learn to be content in all things" as Paul states and remember when he also said, "let your moderation be known unto all men". But, the Laodicean church doesn't like to have it be seen this way.
